The program

What is the Tesla Ambassadors Program?

A part-time program for people across the United States who want to represent Tesla locally. Ambassadors help bring new dealerships onto Tesla's network, refer drivers and host test-drive events.

Who can apply?

Anyone who is 18 or older and eligible to work in the United States. You can apply from any state.

Does it cost anything to join?

No. There's no fee to apply or to take part, and you don't need to buy anything.

Am I a Tesla employee?

No. Ambassadors are independent contractors. You set your own hours and decide how you work.

Do I need sales or automotive experience?

No. Experience in sales, automotive or customer service helps, but it isn't required. Training covers what you need to know.

Earnings and taxes

How do ambassadors earn?

You earn a commission for every dealership you help onboard, and a commission on vehicle sales you help generate.

How much can I earn?

Your earnings depend on the dealerships you bring in and the sales you help generate. Commission rates are shared with ambassadors during onboarding.

How often am I paid?

Commissions are paid every two weeks.

How are taxes handled?

Because ambassadors are independent contractors, Tesla doesn't withhold taxes from commissions. You'll receive a Form 1099 for your earnings as IRS rules require, and you're responsible for reporting that income. A tax professional can advise you on your situation.

Working as an ambassador

How many hours do I need to work?

There's no minimum. The program is part-time, and you set your own hours.

Where can I work?

Anywhere in the United States. Most ambassadors focus on their own city or region.

What does training involve?

Training is online and self-paced. It covers Tesla's vehicles, the program, and how to work with dealerships and their sales teams.

What support will I get?

Marketing materials, demo vehicles for your test-drive events, an ambassador kit, a dedicated program contact, and a way to track your referrals and commissions.

Can I promote Tesla on social media?

Yes. Representing Tesla online and in your community is part of the role, and training covers how to do it well.
